Hey guys!
I know that you have all suffered gravely at the lack of my blogs (sorry 😉 ) but again, I have been so busy with everything that’s been happening.
For example, a few days ago at the border of Honduras and Nicaragua an elderly man with one leg came up and murmured, “Pbsjfbeindfid sjcbjsud suvdjsisgdnaosc msjhdksnbsjsmnnsnhdisnsmmbsishsnsmbjj…” And I shook my head and said “No comprendo” and when he persisted i just shook my head and he kept whispering to me and he held out his hand and leaned on his crutch and pointed at his remaining leg and then at his stub that used to have a leg and muttered something and he was still holding out his hand but since I didn’t have any money on me I went into the food bag and got out some granola to give him. I gave him a handful and he grinned and mumbled something and limped/crutched away it was so sad!!! I didn’t put away the granola yet because dad had left me alone to guard the bike and I was getting hungry. I kept eating the granola and as I was eating it this white dog with some black splotches came over and started to eat the crumbs and I was thinking NOOOOOOO WHY ARE YOU SO HUNGRY ITS SO SAD!!!!
So basically I may have accidently dumped the remaining half of the bag on the ground and then another dog came over about thirty seconds later but he had already eaten it all and the white and black one had left and so the second one just started to lick the ground and I screamed “AGH NO THE GROUND IS DIRTY!” but I screamed it in my head so nobody actually heard it. I may have accidently gotten out dad’s beef jerky (our only other food other than oatmeal, coffee packets and nut bars [yes nut bars]) and I may have fed the wittle guy a wittle bit and then some teenage Nicaraguan girls walked over and they were saying stuff like, “HAHAHAHAHA stupid dogs we have candy!” in Spanish and they were laughing at them and kicking them away.
They were on the other side of a fairly deserted road and so I was standing there in shock (and a teensy wittle bitlle of rage) and so I reopened up the side bag that held the beef jerky bag and got out the jerky and I may or may not have taken the bag over to them (AS THEY WERE KICKING THE POOR THING OUT OF THE WAY FOR A FLIPPING SELFIE OF THEM DOING DUCK FACES!!!!!!!!!!!) and there’s a itty bitty chance that I fed some jerky to the poor thing and he followed me back across the street with the girls laughing behind me about something that one of them said about how delicious the food they had just bought was (by the way they were holding food and that’s why the poor baby doggy woggy didn’t run away when the jerky potato heads started kicking him) and when we arrived back at the motorcycle there were dogs licking up the granola. It was so sad! The girls came over later to the bike and wanted me to take a PHOTO. OF. THEM. WITH. THE. BIKE. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In my head I was all “NOOOOO!!!!!! You guys are EVIL and DEMONIC and you have no souls!” But in reality I was all adorable smile and ok girlys whatevsies. I was young and dumb… I took the stupid photo. I kind of regret it after how mean those demonic bananas were to the poor dog! This rant brought to you by HOLLY JOHNSON!!!
Just before the dog incident we had met Darren and Caryl, some very nice people on BMW motorcycles from Scotland who were riding from Alaska to Argentina and we rode with them for a few days as well. We visited the RE/MAX Nicaragua office in San Juan del Sur and Gabby Estrella and her husband Pedro greeted us like family. We had a nice dinner at a beachfront restaurant, watched the sunset and saw a Christmas procession glide past the restaurant.
Yesterday we crossed the border into Costa Rica! It was a long and frustrating process because one of the people working there needed to sign one of our documents before the four of us could cross and just before she could sign them we were given the news that she was going on her break. For an hour. So we waited for an hour until she came back, signed the papers and we were good to go!
We drove for about an hour or so into Costa Rica yesterday and we followed our GPS to Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica in search of the RE/MAX office there. We found it and got the two agents who were there at the time to sign our Motorcycle for Miracles flag. Michael Mills and his wife Josta Loppé then handed us the keys to their own rental condo in a lovely three-pool complex with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a kitchen, living room, balcony, television(s) and a guard to watch the bike over night! Josta even went to the store and stocked the fridge with food and drinks for us! We had a relaxing swim in one of the pools and then walked across the street for dinner (pizza) and then returned to the condo for some butter cookies and then bed.
This morning we woke up fairly early so we could meet Michael for breakfast with some of the other RE/MAX agents from the area including Michael Simons, the number one RE/MAX agent in the world four or five times over the years. Dad and Michael Simons had met a few times over the years and Dad had nearly taken a job with Michael back in 2007. We had a really nice breakfast before we left to go to the Tres Amigos RE/MAX office where we had all of the agents sign the flag before we returned to the condo. Our Scottish friends had left earlier in the day to go to the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica and they would be meeting us at our house in the south of Costa Rica in a few days.
Dad and I had a total rest day, sitting around and doing nothing (he was probably doing something… I wasn’t though) until just before sunset. We walked down to Playa Hermosa and I collected a few shells before walking to the pizza place for rice, lasagna and quesadillas. Afterwards we returned to the condo so we could begin packing for our departure tomorrow morning and we then got ready for bed, I wrote my blog and then we will most likely go to sleep and hopefully will dream of pandas, penguins and potatoes.
Goodnight everyone!
